Online classes can include explanation, discussion, answer-writing practice, past paper work, revision planning, and feedback according to the student’s need.

  • starting Islamiyat preparation from the beginning
  • revising before school tests, mocks, or final exams
  • weak in Paper 1 or Paper 2
  • good at memorising but weak in answer writing
  • looking for past paper and model answer practice
Is the course only for students in Pakistan?

Students studying in Cambridge schools abroad may also benefit if they are preparing for O Level Islamiyat 2058 or IGCSE Islamiyat 0493.

Syllabus and Exam Structure FAQs

These questions explain the structure of Cambridge O Level Islamiyat 2058 and how the course prepares students according to the syllabus.

Which syllabus is covered?

The main focus is Cambridge O Level Islamiyat 2058. Support is also available for Cambridge IGCSE Islamiyat 0493 because both courses have similar preparation needs in many areas, though students should always follow the exact syllabus and paper requirements of their own exam code.

Useful pages: O Level 2058, IGCSE 0493, Paper 1, Paper 2.

How many papers are there in O Level Islamiyat 2058?

O Level Islamiyat 2058 has two written papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers are important and both must be prepared seriously.

A strong student should not ignore either paper because the final grade depends on overall performance.

How long is each paper?

Each paper is 1 hour 30 minutes. This means students need not only knowledge but also time management.

During preparation, students should practise how much time to spend on compulsory questions, optional questions, 10-mark answers, and 4-mark answers.

How many marks does each paper carry?

Each paper carries 50 marks. Paper 1 is 50 marks and Paper 2 is 50 marks.

This makes both papers equally important. Weakness in one paper can reduce the overall grade, so the course focuses on balanced preparation.

Are Question 1 and Question 2 compulsory?

Yes. In both Paper 1 and Paper 2, students answer Question 1, Question 2, and two other questions.

This is why the course gives special attention to Qur’anic passages in Paper 1 and Hadith passages in Paper 2, as well as the major essay-style topics connected to Question 2.

What are AO1 and AO2 in Islamiyat?

AO1 means knowledge. Students must recall, select, and present relevant facts from the faith and history of Islam.

AO2 means understanding. Students must explain the significance of beliefs, teachings, events, and personalities in Islam and in the lives of Muslims.

In simple words: AO1 asks, “What do you know?” AO2 asks, “Why does it matter?”

Is Islamiyat only about memorisation?

No. Memorisation is helpful, but it is not enough. Students also need to understand meanings, organise facts, explain importance, and answer the exact question asked.

A weak answer may contain correct information but still lose marks if it is general, disorganised, or not directly connected to the question.

Paper 1 FAQs

Paper 1 covers Qur’anic themes, the history and importance of the Qur’an, the life and importance of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and the first Islamic community.

What is covered in Paper 1?

  • God in Himself
  • God’s relationship with the created world
  • God’s Messengers

How should students prepare Qur’anic passages?

Students should not only memorise translations. They should identify the passage and theme, understand the meaning, learn important keywords, explain the teaching, and connect it with Muslim belief and practice.

Useful links: Revelation of the Qur’an, Compilation of the Qur’an, Qur’an in Legal Thinking.

Why do students lose marks in Qur’an history answers?

Students often lose marks because they confuse revelation with compilation, forget the roles of Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه and Uthman رضي الله عنه, write general points, or fail to explain why compilation was important.

Good answers need sequence, accuracy, names, reasons, and significance.

What is covered in the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

This topic includes events from birth to call to prophethood, activities in Makkah, experiences with opponents, migration, Madinan life, community leadership, conflicts, actions and character of the Prophet ﷺ, and his importance as Seal of the Prophets.

How should Seerah answers be written?

Seerah answers should be written with background, main details in correct order, important people involved, outcome of the event, and importance for Muslims or Islamic history.

Students should avoid unrelated stories. Every paragraph should help answer the question.

What is the first Islamic community?

The first Islamic community refers to the people closely connected with the Prophet ﷺ and the early Muslim community, including the Prophet’s wives, children, descendants, leading Companions, scribes, Muhajirun and Ansar, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs during the Prophet’s lifetime.

What are the Six Articles of Faith?

The Six Articles of Faith include belief in God, angels, books, prophets, God’s predestination and decree, and resurrection and the Last Day.

Students should know not only the names of these beliefs but also their meaning and significance in Muslim life.

How is Jihad taught in this course?

Jihad is taught carefully and responsibly according to the syllabus requirement. Students study Jihad in its range of meanings, including spiritual, mental, moral and physical dimensions.

The focus is on balanced, exam-appropriate understanding: self-discipline, struggle against wrong, effort for good, defence where relevant, and service to the cause of Allah within proper Islamic principles.

Answer-Writing and Past Paper FAQs

These questions explain how students are trained to improve exam answers, especially 10-mark and 4-mark responses.

Will students practise past papers?

Yes. Past paper practice is included. Students practise topic-wise questions first and then paper-wise questions as their preparation improves.

Useful pages: Past Papers Hub, Paper 1 Past Papers, Paper 2 Past Papers.

How are 10-mark answers taught?

10-mark answers usually require detailed knowledge. Students are trained to write structured answers with clear introduction where useful, accurate facts, names, events, terms, examples, developed paragraphs and direct connection with the question.

The main aim is to move students from short, scattered points to complete, developed answers.

How are 4-mark answers taught?

4-mark answers usually test understanding, importance, reasoning, opinion or significance. A strong answer should normally include a clear point, reason, connection with Islamic teaching and relevance to Muslim life today.

In simple words, students learn to answer “why is this important?” not only “what happened?”

Will answers be checked?

Answer checking and feedback can be included according to the course plan. Feedback may focus on relevance, missing facts, weak paragraphing, poor evaluation, unclear wording or lack of significance.

What are common mistakes in Islamiyat answers?

Common mistakes include writing general Islamic knowledge instead of answering the exact question, mixing Paper 1 and Paper 2 topics, writing too little for 10 marks, writing only facts in 4-mark significance questions, forgetting names and sequence, vague phrasing and poor time management.

Can weak students improve in Islamiyat?

Yes. Weak students can improve if they study systematically. The most important steps are understanding the syllabus, studying one topic at a time, learning key facts, practising short answers first, then developing complete 10-mark and 4-mark answers.

Online Class FAQs

These questions explain how the online learning process works and what students can expect from the classes.

How are online classes conducted?

Online classes may include live explanation, discussion, question practice, answer planning, revision guidance and feedback. The exact format can be adjusted according to student needs.

Are classes one-to-one or group-based?

This can be discussed during the trial or inquiry stage. One-to-one support is usually better for weak areas and answer correction. Group learning can be useful for discussion, revision and regular syllabus coverage.

How many classes are needed to complete the syllabus?

The number of classes depends on the student’s current level, exam session, syllabus coverage and writing ability. A student starting from the beginning needs more time than a student who only needs revision and past paper practice.

Can a student join only for Paper 1 or only for Paper 2?

Yes. Students may join for complete preparation or for a specific paper. Some students may need help only with Qur’anic themes and Seerah, while others may need help with Hadith, Caliphs, Articles of Faith or Pillars.

Can the classes focus only on past papers?

Yes, if the student already knows the syllabus well. However, if the student has weak content knowledge, a better method is usually: topic revision first, then past paper questions, then model answers and correction.

Notes, Resources and Revision FAQs

These questions explain how notes, worksheets, website resources and revision support can help students prepare more effectively.

Will students receive notes?

Students may receive topic-wise guidance, revision support, worksheets, model-answer practice and website-based notes according to the preparation plan.

Useful page: Free Islamiyat Resources.

Why are HTML notes useful?

HTML notes are useful because students can read them directly on the website without downloading files. They are easier to update, easier to link with related topics, and more engaging for revision.

Will PDF resources also be available?

PDF resources can be added later for revision checklists, model answers, worksheets and printable notes. Initially, HTML pages are a good choice because they keep the website active and useful.

How should students revise Islamiyat?

A strong revision method is: revise the topic from notes, make a short list of key facts and terms, look at repeated past paper questions, write one 10-mark answer, write one 4-mark answer, check what is missing, and revise again after a few days.

Are model answers included?

Model-answer guidance can be included. The purpose of a model answer is not blind memorisation. It helps students understand structure, paragraph development, relevance and significance.

Parent FAQs

These questions help parents understand how the course can support their child’s preparation and what information should be shared before starting.

How can parents know what their child needs?

Parents can share the student’s current class, exam session, school test performance, weak topics, and whether the student needs Paper 1, Paper 2, or both.

A short discussion or trial class can help identify whether the student’s main weakness is content knowledge, answer writing, revision, confidence, or time management.

What information should parents send before booking?

Parents should ideally share the student name and class, exam code, exam session, weak areas, recent school result or teacher feedback if available, and preferred class timing.

Is the course suitable for last-minute revision?

Yes, but the plan must be realistic. Last-minute revision should focus on high-priority topics, repeated question areas, answer structure and quick correction of common mistakes.

Can parents request progress updates?

Yes. Parents may request guidance about syllabus progress, weak areas and suggested home practice. The exact progress update system can be discussed when the student joins.
